Great Expectations (1946)

IMDB rating: 8.20

Plot: Pip, a good-natured, gullible young orphan, lives with kind blacksmith Joe Gargery and his bossy, abusive wife ‘Mrs. Joe’. When the boy finds two hidden escaped galley convicts, he obeys under -probably unnecessary- threat of a horrible death to bring the criminals food he must steal at peril of more caning from the battle-ax. Just when Pip fears to get it really good while they have guests, a soldier comes for Joe who takes Pip along as assistant to work on the chains of escaped galley-convicts, who are soon caught. The better-natured one takes the blame for the stolen food. Later Pip is invited to became the playmate of Estelle, the equally arrogant adoptive daughter of gloomy, filthy rich Miss Havisham at her estate, who actually has ‘permission’ to break the kind kid’s heart; being the only pretty girl he ever saw, she wins his heart forever, even after a mysterious benefactor pays trough a lawyer for his education and a rich allowance, so he can become a snob in London, by now ‘ashamed’ of simple Joe. Only after years in idle wealth, Pip learns Havisham is not his benefactor as he assumed, and both her story and those of his real sponsor and Estelle…

Should You Reunite With Old Friends?
Okay, so there’s some friends whom I haven’t spoken to in years and they find me on Facebook. Well, I hate how people always expect you to have accomplished so much or be married or have kids or be this great new person by now. I am still a work in progress. I feel like people who used to know me expect me to either be a completely different person or the exact same person.

Have you ever been nervous or anxious to meet up with friends from the past? Were they able to handle that you have changed? I hate the expectations people have of me.

well if they are someone you used to get along with well, then i think reconnecting might be good. you dont really know that they would have expectations, or you might have some of them. just be yourself, there is no need to justify it. and if that person was a good friend once, then they probably just want to reconnect themselves.

The radicalised children of the Nazi generation lead by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism: American imperialism supported by the German establishment, many of whom have a Nazi past. Their aim is to create a more human society but by employing inhuman means they not only spread terror and bloodshed, they also lose their own humanity. The man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force Horst Herold. What Could Help my Yu-Gi-Oh Fairy/Kuriboh Deck?
I need a little help with this deck i already know i need a winged Kuriboh Lv9 and 10 so keep that in mind when reading this.

Monsters:

3 - Shining Angels
3 - kuribohs
2 - Winged Kuribohs
Spirit of the Harp
Sunny Pixie
Sangan

Herald of Orange Light
Harvest Angel of Wisdom
Guardian Angel Joan
Counselor Lily
Hysteric Fairy

Traps:
Sakuretsu Armor

Seven Tools of the Bandit
Trap Hole

Spells:
Dian Keto the Cure Master
2 - Beserker Crush
Dark World Lightning

Hammer Shot
Monster Reincarnation

General Synchros:
Gaia Knight, The force of Earth
X-Saber Urbellum
Black Rose Dragon
Ancient Sacred Wyvern
Avenging Knight Parshath
Stardust Dragon
Red Dragon Archfiend

Not bad, but if your deck is to revolve around kuribohs, then you have too many redirect tactic cards. Your deck is better off labeled fairy deck or call it a fallen paradise deck or something. The one thing I don’t understand is your Dian Keto the Cure Master. Your deck doesn’t appear to revolve around life points, so that card looks useless. Replace it with Mystical Space Typhoon or Heavy Storm (since those two are needed in every deck). Your synchros look o.k. and I would try to get a torrential tribute added there (seeing as mirror force is too expensive) and other than that, your trap section looks o.k. As for your spells, try to squeeze in a pot of averace (to increase drawing chance). As for your monsters, you should really try to get a morphing jar. You have enough support cards, but they can be used up easily. If you want to maximize the effect of Athena, you will need as many fairies as possible. I rate this deck 6/10 (or maybe 7/10)

Last Templar, The (2008)

IMDB rating: 5.10

Plot: An adaptation of Raymond Khoury’s novel about a New York archaeologist researching the lost secrets of the medieval Knights Templar.

Directors: Barzman Paolo

Actors: Day Larry,Dillon Peter Michael,Foley Scott,Garber Victor,Jordan Don,Krupa Mark Antony,Lemke Anthony,Tran Ken,Drama,

What is the significance of the Holy Grail? And why do so many look for it?
My husband and I were watching a show about the Templar Knights and I guess I just don’t get the significance of the Holy Grail. I have always believed that it was the chalice that Jesus drank out of at the Last Supper. Assuming I am correct why is there such mystery surrounding it? Why have so many looked for it for so long? Jesus used many cups throughout His life I’m sure and nobody seems to be looking for those. I am a devout Christian and I still don’t understand what all the fuss is about! I also don’t understand why some feel that it would be horrible if Jesus had married and had a child. Even if He did it wouldn’t diminish who He was or what He did for mankind. Insights please!

Though Jesus may have used many cups before, the Grail is said to be the chalice that he used at the Last Supper, which is essentially the first ever "communion" or "mass" ceremony. This is where the line about "Drink this, for this is my blood which is shed for you" etc. comes up.

Medieval theology included many ideas of "relics", such as the bones of different Saints, or the "true cross" on which Jesus was crucified, or the Shroud of Turin, and of course the Holy Grail. Churches from various parts of Europe would claim to have these relics in order to bolster their importance and following, and would attribute various miracles to them.
This is most likely where the idea that the Grail could grant real "eternal life" came from.

As for its role in Arthurian Legend, the stories of King Arthur and his knights are themselves largely a myth, stories invented to entertain the royal courts of France and England from around the 11th-12th century. They are based on Celtic poetry from around roughly the 5-6th century about a warrior leader known as "Arthur", and the details are very vague, due to the fact that the Celts passed their poetry down by spoken word for many generations before anyone wrote any of it down. There was no mention of the "grail" in these writings, although there were tales of quests for relic items of importance. The Grail’s first link with Arthurian legend came from a Medieval French writer known as Chretien de Troyes.

The Order of the Templars, a religious-military group of knights that arose in 12th century France, who were endorsed by the Pope of the time, took a particular interest in Holy relics and their symbolic importance, and laid claim to many relics after the capture of Jerusalem during the First Crusade - it is said that the Holy Grail was among these relics. Whether any of them were the genuine article is (and was) impossible to tell.

What I don’t understand is why no-one is looking for the "Holy Plate" from the Last Supper… or perhaps the "Holy Spoon". Maybe it got left in the previous nights washing-up sink, and mingled in with the other cutlery, forever to remain in obscurity… (well actually, the Grail has also been portrayed as possibly a plate or a bowl, or various other things in literature, so whichever item on the last-supper tablecloth actually had the miraculous powers is a matter of debate…)

The holy grail is the key to eternal life & many people want this though it can turn into a curse.
Andy | Sep 22, 2009

Ultimately, Arthur’s knights didn’t know what it was either. They were just looking for something that would save Arthur and England. Later it became known as the cup Jesus used at the last supper.

relics were the riches of the church and if you could get them you could control more of the masses. the church used any means to increase the number of relics and made up stories about thing that belong to jesus just to get people to forge them and plant them to be found that is why they attack the carbon dating methods because it exposes the frauds the holy grail is but one example of the relics. it is a myth and myths are the only thing the church has to offer and the relics with holy water

It is the cup that gives everlasting life. Many have tried to find it and have failed because there are three challenges you must face. First, the breath of God. Only the penitent man will pass. Second, the Word of God, only in the footsteps of God will he proceed. Third, the Path of God, only in the leap from the lion’s head will he prove his worth.
Cooper | Sep 22, 2009

Read the book "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" by Henry, Beigent, and Leigh. It gives all the theories and all the angles.

Long story short, the Holy Grail (sangreel) is actually the holy blood line of the decendents of the supposed union between Jesus and Mary Magdelene. Mary herself being the chalace. These decendents are believed to exist in the Merivingian line of kings in Europe, and this lineage is what gave kings the "divine right" to rule.

I recommend you get and read the book for the whole story.

If you are a christian then you are unique among your group. The Da Vince Code addressed the issue - as well as Holy Blood Holy Grail and a dozen other works - that the grail was the child he had with Mary Magdalena. Personally I find nothing wrong with it but the church has been trying to kill the descendants of jesus since then. What is really interesting is that they have been trying to kill the children of god. That would make them the quintessential Antichrists.

Plot: Everything that could go wrong did go wrong: War, Terrorism, Natural Disasters. Evacuees were ushered from the cities to refugee camps in the surrounding counties. In-fighting, famine and disease took their toll on the survivors. Now, twenty years after the bombs fell and the plagues ran their course the few that remain live in fear and without hope. Azura Skye (28 DAYS, ONE MISSED CALL) stars as Sarah in this Post-Apocalyptic Fairy Tale about a young woman’s journey to deliver the first child born in 15 Years. Sarah’s refusal to give up is inspired by a lone voice on her radio. Michael (Joshua Leonard, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT) broadcasts dim and distant messages of hope mixed with the music he scavenges from the dead. Forced from her basement home by drought and relentlessly pursued by those who want her baby, Sarah crosses paths with Michael in a cavernous, underground refuge of disparate survivors. It is from Three Caves that Michael and Sarah will embark on a journey beyond the boundaries of the Southern Corridor and into the unknown future. Nathan Baesel (BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON), Reg. E Cathey (THE WIRE) and Diane Salinger (CARNIVALE) co-star in this artfully rendered vision of a challenging future filled with danger, fear and hope.
